Right Here

Love is a bar; oh, not just any bar
Love is Buddy’s, where these two first met
It’s a place to refresh, unwind, revive and reset
It’s a slide-by or dig-in, easy, happy kind of space
It’s a bear-hug embrace
From your people, your friends
Love is a good ol’ watering hole,
That well you return to again and again

Love’s also a busy kitchen
All simmer and sizzle, stir, drip and drizzle
It’s herbs snipped out back; tomatoes freshly plucked
It’s a Sunday gravy and meatballs; it’s oysters, roasted ‘n shucked
It’s a dash of salt, a lemon squeeze, a pinch ‘o sweet, a kick o’ heat
Love is whipping up meals, messes and magic – going way off-recipe
Love’s where we nourish and season; where we feed and we feast

Love is a deck, a patio, a porch, screened in or wide-open
It’s stories told under twinkle lights and all our dreams collecting
It’s hearts and minds breezily, easily and Oh! so deeply connecting
Love is an outdoor room, draped in fern and flower
Where we sink into chairs, let go our cares,
Shake out our souls and take in the air

Love is an ocean, waves crashing the shore
It’s an umbrella’s shade, a good book, an exchange of lore
It’s surf-boogie-skim boarding ‘til you’re sunburned and salt-chapped
It’s bathing suits matching, drip-castle smashin’, fish and crab catching
It’s a week-long card game, a puzzle, sandwiches and songs by request
It’s wrapped in blankets, watching shooting stars up in the crow’s nest
Love is a beach-trip adventure, a mix of wilderness and wildness
And maybe (just maybe) a little bit of rest

Love is a vehicle, a vessel, every mode of transportation
Carrying us forward, moving us along ‘twixt trial and tribulation
It’s her hot wheels and his truck and trailer, loaded with game and gear
It’s windows down, tunes cranked, getting lost and found, far and near
Yes, love is all these places you go, but love is also right here
Love is where YOU are; it’s who you are; love is what y’all do

Just look at her, Wiggins. Look at him, Weazie.
Love is right here; all you have to do is: show up
Show up for each other
Each day – every day – forever
Rain or shine (or hurricane)
Love is right here
